Has anyone seen my dignity?
I know we have barely used the blog function on our website, but I wanted to write something down after the tornado of fun that was Podfest. It’s hard to describe if you weren’t there, but coming from Australia, where most people still have no idea what a podcast is, I was not prepared for how cool it was going to be. I saw all the people walking around and thought, “Holy shit. Look where all those stupid conversations have brought me.” It’s just so awesome to fly to the other side of the world and meet people who enjoy talking about …
I think it’s a movie about tonsils.
After you turn thirty, you occasionally have moments that make you feel old. I know this is not a unique observation, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. This week sees the arrival of The Dark Knight Rises, the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy. I’m going to assume that last sentence is unnecessary. It’s an “event” movie, like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or Cool As Ice. The media hype and subsequent social media fanaticism around its release is phenomenal. EVERYONE is going to see this film. It has formed a bridge between mainstream audiences and nerds alike; if this movie was Ferris Bueller, you might say it was a righteous dude.
Okay, I know what you’re all thinking.
What the hell is TOFOP doing with a professional-looking website? Look, we know we sometimes come across like the village idiots of podcasting, with our non-plugging in of microphones and losing of episodes, but deep down we have dreams. Not Martin Luther Vandross (I think that’s his name) type dreams, but we do see a future in which veteran T-Baggers and the yet-to-be-aurally corrupted can come together and share in our particular brand of whimsy.
